Every Spring I feel like I need to clean my home, my patio, my car, and every place that my family inhabits. It's a time of renewal, and I think cleaning gives me the feeling of being in control. Robert Urich said, "A healthy outside starts with a healthy inside." So why doesn't our spring cleaning begin with our minds, our bodies, and our spirits? This year, I've been thinking a lot about spring cleaning me...my mind, my body, and my spirit. Here are some ways that I think we can do this.

The Oxford English Dictionary defines the word "thankful" as "pleased and relieved." Both of those are great feelings. Thankful is an adjective, you see. It is a descriptive word of someone.
The same dictionary defines the word "grateful" as "showing an appreciation of kindness." Grateful is a verb. It is an action word. Ah Ha! Here is a moment of realization. There is a big difference in thankfulness and gratefulness. I do not know anyone who is not thankful for their family, their home, and their lives, but finding people who are grateful is a little more difficult.
Everyone who is grateful is thankful, but not everyone who is thankful is grateful. The difference? The verb. The action of demonstrating your thankfulness is what makes you grateful. How are you demonstrating your gratefulness to your family, friends, community, city, country, and world?
William Arthur Ward, one of our most quoted writers of inspirational thoughts once said, "Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgiving, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings."
Think about that as you gather with your family and friends this year. However, keep in mind that we should show our thankfulness every day of our lives. We should practice giving thanks with by showing gratitude through doing, giving, and serving. Write a note. Tell someone how much they mean to you. Give a hug. Volunteer to help. Cook a meal. The ways to to illustrate gratefulness are innumerable.

A Message from Annie
Welcome to the Fall! It's one of my favorite times of the year. Not only because of the weather change, but because it is the beginning of the holiday season. For our family, Thanksgiving, Advent, Christmas, and New Years are a time to celebrate our family, our lives, our health, in short, to celebrate our BLESSINGS. I have many friends of all different faiths and belief systems so this is also a time for me to honor their journey and be thankful for the diverse world that God has created. That's why I love ALL of the Holidays.
There are 87 days to the end of they year, and in that time, there at least 14 different religious holiday celebrations. We all may celebrate differently, but the one thing we can all celebrate is love. Every human can celebrate that life is a blessing, and it is because of this, I'm ready to prepare myself for this season.
I will be conducting a Healthy For the Holidays Challenge beginning on October 15, 2017 until the November 23, 2016. This challenge will take us to Thanksgiving and help us get our bodies, our minds, and and our spirits ready for the upcoming holiday season. I would love for you to join us on this fun and encouraging challenge. All you have to do is join the Facebook Group:
It's free, fun, and we will be getting healthy together!

Herbal Medicine for Seasonal Allergies
This time of year, many people suffer from Cedar Fever and other seasonal allergies. Those who experience these suffer from symptoms like hives, rash, wheezing, sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes, sore throat, etc. One natural herb/spice that you probably have in your kitchen may be just what you need to help overcome your seasonal allergies. Turmeric belongs to the ginger family. It naturally helps cure many health problems, including allergies, due to the following properties:
Makes: ½ cup
Whisk your ground turmeric in a small mixing bowl or grind lightly with a mortar and pestle to loosen clumps, and smooth into a fine powder.
Next add in the apple cider vinegar, honey, lemon juice and zest and pepper. Stir until smooth.
Consume as a warm tonic, by mixing 1 tablespoon with a large mug of warm water. Or on top of toast or as a baked good topping. Add a tablespoon or two into your green juice or blend it into your smoothie.
